Project 1960 MGA 1600 Mk1

STAGES OF RESTORATION:

This MG A had been sat in a damp barn for more than ten years when We first encountered it and that was over twenty years ago.

On first inspection we recommended the owner put it in auction as a barn find as it was in such poor condition and not financially viable, but as the car is one of only seven hundred and eighty home market right hand drive cars built in 1960 and with its original engine and drive train he told me he wanted to restore it.

It took over 1500 hours of labour to get this result. Now finished and looking stunning in its original Iris Blue with Black leather and Blue piping she still has her original engine and running gear, although rebuilt the believed to have covered only 52000 miles the engine is still standard and did not require a rebore or crank regrind. It would seem it was only corrosion that took this car off the road all those years ago.
